Date

Open Day is generally scheduled for the last Thursday of the second semester teaching term, unless it is close to bank holidays such as St. Patrick's day, which may affect availability systems administration support pending your final preparations.



Schedule


The morning is mainly for the supervisors and second readers;
the afternoon is more open, for industry, schools and other years etc.;
but slight variations may occur.

Awards are generally made at a brief reception, either at lunch or at the end of the afternoon session.

10 - 1 examining - 1st & 2nd readers - although most may delay arrival for a few minutes to give you time to resolve last minute issues.

1-2 lunch break.

2- when finished - say ~4 ... but depends on crowd and interest...visitors etc...



Location - details will be arranged within a few days and final details circulated within a few hours of Open Day, but the main issues are listed below.

The final mix of labs depends to some extent on the project mix and machine requirements, but normally the Apple Mac lab and some adjacent labs on the first floor are used.

The aim is to help people find you so they can see your project,
which is in your own interest, either academically or career-wise,
so try to stay in your assigned location if possible,
or if you have to move, please observe the following guidelines.

In the event that you really need to move due to faulty kit, please:-

1 - choose a viable location as close as possible to your original place,
there should be a spare machine or 2 in your room, so try to stay 
in your room as near as possible to your original location.

2 - put a note in large clear writing on your original location indicating your new location

3 - update the list displayed at the entrance to the room, also indicating your new position
