RESEARCH INTERESTS

Overview

I am interested in the design and analysis of complex systems. This interest spans the multiple representations and algorithms that must work together in a coordinated fashion to build software tools for complex systems. My work has covered issues focused on:

bulletRepresentation,
bulletControl,
bulletInference, and
bulletSystems integration.

I have worked in the design and analysis of complex systems in several application areas, including:

bulletDistributed networked systems, such as
bulletWireless sensor networks
bulletDistributed computer networks
bulletPower grid networks
bulletCollections of unmanned vehicles (UVs)
bulletCommercial aircraft,
bulletNavy ships,
bulletCollections of text corpora, and
bulletHuman cardiovascular and digestive systems; biochemical modeling/analysis

Key Research Areas

bulletModel-based diagnosis
bullet Distributed, embedded systems
bulletProbabilistic Inference
