Marc's MetaPost
Pages (Examples: Escher Section)
Due to copyright restrictions I am not allowed to display
any pictures in this section because the Escher Foundation
won't allow anybody to re-interpret the work of M.C. Escher.
You can still download the MetaPost sources, but please be aware
that running MetaPost on them is not allowed.
You can download the whole bunch
as a gzipped tar-file.
The archive is a lot smaller than it used to be
(it's about 110KB).
It includes tools to rebuild all the graphics and
an INSTALL
script.
Just run the INSTALL
script in the mpost directory
and Bob's you uncle.
For most (if not all) of the examples it is assumed that you
have set your TEX
environment variable to
latex
.
It is also assumed that you have
ghostscript, latex, and metapost working.
Click on the links to see the pictures.
There is also a page with
links.
Time permitting,
I will add some more examples as well as
some useful MetaPost
tips.
- If you like that fine Dutch artist Escher
then you may like these
birds.
I use drawings like these as backgrounds for my presentations.
- Birds
must have inspired Escher a lot.
- More birds by Escher.
- More birds by Escher.
- No more birds by Escher
from here on.
- Who said there were no
snakes
in Ireland?
- These fish
are adapted from another Escher drawing.
I use the drawing to get a nice background for my
home-page.
- Some very realistic carp by Escher.
In the process of programming this one, I forgot to put their mouths
in place.
Let me know if you have the code to make them smile again.
- More fish by Escher.
- Okay, these fish by Escher
will be the last.
- These reptiles
are also adapted from one of Escher's drawings.
The idea is that you use them as a background for
a presentation.
As the presentation goes on, the reptiles will get together
and will eventually embrace each other.
- You can download all
MetaPost
related stuff
from Marc's site as a gzipped tar-file.
