Senior Lecturer at the School of Computer Science and Information Technology , University College Cork - Ireland. Former Associate Professor at ICMC - University of São Paulo, Brazil, (1982-2019). BSc in Computer Science. MSc degree in Electrical Engineering (UNICAMP). PhD in Computer Studies - University of East Anglia - UK. Stays as visiting scholar at University of Massachusetts Lowell USA (2001-2002) and Dalhousie University - Halifax (Canada) (2015).

My research regards Data Visualization, Data Science and human-centric Machine Learning and AI, as well as Applications, imprinting a multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinariy outlook to my work. I interact with researchers and professionals in diverse data analytics applications, such as biology, imaging applications, document and cultural analytics, soundscape ecology, medical records, social networks, etc.. My research partners are located in various countries, such as Brazil, the USA, Canada, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Peru, and the UK. I frequently publish in main venues related to visualization, graphics, bioinformatics, user interaction, machine learning and applications.
