Chapter 3 of Nielsen (1999) is especially good on writing for the web, with lots of practical advice. Hale (1996) deals with the style and semantics of web prose, as pioneered by Wired magazine. Birkerts (1994) is a largely pessimistic view of the influence of hypertext and its detrimental effects, but with some valid viewpoints nonetheless.
